Description:
For International Translation Day, Everybody's Reading and Poetry without Borders present: Tavengwa Kaponda's Chisveru Poetry without Borders 2018 features presentations on the languages that are spoken in Leicester and the contribution they make to the character of the city; music from the Zimbabwe Association Choir; and poetry readings in Shona from Tavengwa Kaponda's debut collection, "Chisveru", with some of the poems translated into English and other languages. With support from the Leicester City Council Ward Community Fund (Castle Ward) and Poetry without Borders. Margarete Klopfleish, activist and artist – her story An Everybody’s Reading / Secular Society event Margarete was a German anti-fascist activist forced to flee from Nazi occupation. A short talk, a short solo play by Alison Dunne, performed by Hayley Thornton and a photographic display of Margarete’s work. Based on the book "Balancing Between Different Worlds - the Life and Work of Artist Margarete Klopfleisch" by her daughter Sonja Grossner.
