Description:
THE ART OF THINKING – GREG SCORCZO - SUMMER 2019 The 'Art of Thinking' sessions are run by philosopher Dr Greg Scorzo, editor of 'Culture on the Offensive' (https://www.cultureontheoffensive.com/). In this session Dr Scorzo asks "Is it rational to believe claims without evidence?" It is often thought in secular circles that believing claims without evidence is at last irrational, if not outright immoral. But are most of our deepest beliefs, things that we believe without evidence? What evidence do we have, for instance, that we can trust our senses? We evidence do we have that we are connected to our past selves? What evidence do we have that moral claims are true, and such that we are obligated to abide by them? Followed by open exploration, discussion, debate and tea. No experience of academic philosophy is needed. Each session stands alone – come to as many as you wish. Admission £3 on the door, no booking necessary.

In the interest of freethought and free speech we also list other selected events of interest - no endorsement or responsibility is implied. Always check details with the organisers.
