Description:
Responsible travelling in the Americas, without wings Jessica Cooke and Andrew Reeves 6 months in the Americas, from Canada to Colombia without flying, crossing the Atlantic by Cargo ship. Jessie and Andrew are keen travellers, living on a narrowboat that continuously cruises along Leicestershire’s waterways. "We love to see the world, but we are also conscious of the negative environmental and social impact that travelling can have. "We were determined to see the Americas, but to avoid flying, so we found other ways, including a cargo ship across the Atlantic, sailing between Panama and Colombia’s Darian Gap, and many many hours on trains and buses! "We had an amazing rich adventure, including volunteering with conservation projects though HelpX and Work Away, and staying with locals through networks such as Servas and Couchsurfing. "We will share stories of our adventure, as well as thinking through ways in which we can all be more responsible when planning our own travel." Andrew works in environmental behaviour change in DeMontfort University and Jessie works in the cohesion team at Nottingham City Council. All welcome - admission free.
