Leicester in the "Golden Age of Cycling"

Description: An illustrated talk on Leicester's emergence as one of the world's most prominent towns during the period often referred to as 'the golden age of cycling'.

Featuring several unpublished photographs, the talk will cover the arrival of the bicycle into Leicester during the 1860's, look at some of the successful local manufacturers, highlight the town's unique position of being home to two internationally famous cycle tracks at the same time and give an insight into the history of some of the numerous clubs the town could boast from as early as the 1870's.

Roger Lovell is a local cycling historian and Ordinary rider. Further information at https://www.facebook.com/events/954548277889806/permalink/976579302353370/
