LSS: Guided visits to Ernest Gimson's Inglewood

Description: 2pm and 3.30pm: Guided visits for two parties of 16 to Inglewood, a famous Ernest Gimson designed Arts and Crafts house in Leicester.

UPDATE: Pansy logoLeicester Secular Society

Visit to Inglewood House organised by Leicester Secular Society with the courtesy of the owners, Adam Suddaby and Victoria Gifford.

Inglewood is a nationally famous Arts and Crafts house designed by Ernest Gimson in the 1890's.

There will be a guided our of the house and its gardens and an opportunity to see some of the literature and documents associated with the house over its history.

Inglewood is located on the corner of Ratcliffe Road and Elms Road in the Knighton area of Leicester. It is dramatically plain in comparison to many of its neighbours. It was built on an extensive three-quarter acre site using warm red Leicester sand stockbricks and roofed with local Swithland slates, graded with the smallest ones at the top and large one's at the bottom.
The interior was decorated with Gimson's own plasterwork and Morris and Company wallpapers.

Signing up for the trip

There will be two tours of the house 2pm and 3.30pm with a maximum of 16 for each tour.
