LSS: Gary McLelland - Blasphemy Laws in Europe

Description: For god’s sake: How blasphemy laws are used to undermine freedom of expression

Blasphemy was a crime in UK until 2008, but why is it still an offence in 17 European countries?

Why do states still prosecute people for blasphemy?

Our new season starts with a lecture and discussion on the important topic of blasphemy laws with Gary McLelland, new Chief Executive of the International Humanist and Ethical Union. IHEU is a global umbrella body for humanist, atheist and secularist groups.

All welcome - not to be missed!

Admission free - donations welcome
