LSS: Lisa Smith: Forensic Science and Criminology: History and Future

Description: Forensic Science and Criminology: The history and future of science in the criminal justice system.

Professor Lisa Smith

'Forensic science refers to a broad range of techniques in the physical and biological sciences which are applied to the law. The public are often fascinated by stories of successful investigations that have been supported by forensic science, in both fiction and real life.

'However, there are a range of challenges that arise when science meets the legal system, and in this talk we will explore research and case examples which highlight some of these issues and discuss how this is shaping the future of forensic science.'

Lisa is Professor of Criminology and Director of the Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Leicester.
