LSS: Hamish Whiteley - Growing up with Grandma

Description: Everybody’s Reading Event

Growing up with Grandma

Hamish Whiteley

Author Hamish Whiteley will discuss and read from his new book, which contains all the stories from the BBC Radio 4 series "Growing up with Grandma".

Local author and LSS member Hamish Whiteley has, at long last, collected 24 Grandma stories together into one volume, beautifully illustrated by Joel Stewart. The stories describe one year in the life of a boy who lives with his grandparents, growing up in Huddersfield in 1959.

Hamish will talk about the background to the stories, how they came to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4, and read some stories and poems. The book will be on sale for the first time.
