Leicester is a frontline city - the country's most diverse city - with a determined and ambitious Bishop to deal with.
Leicester also boasts the world's first purpose-built Secular Hall dating from 1881.
We are making a big effort:
We need all the help we can get to raise money, increase membership and boost our impact in this crucial city.
|
Most of the money would come from the Heritage Lottery Fund and similar bodies, but the project will also call for money, time and effort from the Society . We have just completed a £30,000 feasibility study, paid for by HLF, and are now considering w hether to go ahead with the next application.
From Jeremy Fenn, Senior Grants Officer, HLF:
"A project to repair and conserve this building, whilst increasing audiences, could have excellent potential for meeting HLF's priorities and providing nationally important heritage benefits ... The Society is a very interesting group with an important building and history, and we want to make sure we can help give your application the best chance of success."
